5Q Partners (“5Q” or the “Company”), a leading provider of information and operational technology solutions for the commercial real estate industry, today announced the appointments of Kevin Danehy and Tom Scott to its Board of Directors. Danehy and Scott both bring more than 30 years of real estate experience, have served as senior executives at industry-leading firms, and bring complementary perspectives spanning growth, strategy, operations and performance improvement.
Most recently, Danehy served as CEO of North America and Vice Chair at Willow, a technology platform focused on the built environment. Prior to Willow, Danehy served as Executive Vice President and Global Head of Corporate Development at Brookfield Properties, where he focused on strategic growth initiatives, M&A, joint ventures, partnerships and the adoption of new technologies across Brookfield’s real estate portfolio. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly 30 years at CBRE in a variety of senior leadership roles.
Scott currently serves in an executive role at Paths Management Services, a vertically integrated affordable housing developer, builder and operator. Prior to Paths, Scott was a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Performance Improvement practice, where he advised institutional real estate investors, REITs, managers and operators on operational and financial performance improvement. Earlier in his career, he served as a Partner at EY, where he helped develop the firm’s Real Estate Consulting Practice in Asia-Pacific.
Danehy and Scott join as 5Q expands from managed IT and cybersecurity into a complete technology management platform for owners and operators of real estate, adding ERP and application support, strategic technology advisory, PropTech assessment and portfolio governance. Danehy's background in corporate development, M&A and technology adoption at Brookfield and Willow, together with Scott's experience operating and improving real estate businesses, will support 5Q's organic growth and acquisition strategy, which includes the recent integration of One11.
“Kevin and Tom each bring a perspective that will be highly relevant as we continue to grow 5Q,” said Wade Hughes, CEO of 5Q. “Kevin has spent decades helping some of the largest companies in real estate think about growth, technology and strategic opportunities, while Tom has deep experience operating and improving real estate businesses from the inside. Having both of them around the table will make us better as we think about where to invest, how to scale and how to continue delivering more value to our clients.”
“The role of technology within commercial real estate has changed dramatically over the course of my career,” said Kevin Danehy. “Owners and operators are being asked to manage a much broader and more complex technology environment, and 5Q has built a business specifically around helping them do that. I’ve known the challenges this industry faces for a long time, and I’m looking forward to working with Wade and the team as they continue to expand what 5Q can provide to its clients.”
“What attracted me to 5Q is how closely the business is connected to the day-to-day operating needs of real estate companies,” said Tom Scott. “Technology decisions increasingly affect everything from cost structure and productivity to the resident and tenant experience. 5Q understands that operating context, not just the technology itself. I’m excited to contribute an operator’s perspective as the team continues to build the platform and scale the business.”
